PHS grad Lent appointed interim head football coach at St. Thomas

St. Thomas Aquinas High School announced the appointment of Ryan Lent as interim head coach of the football team on Monday.

Lent has been an assistant coach with the Saints as well as an offensive and defensive coordinator for Portsmouth Youth Football.

“Ryan has been a huge part of the recent success of the STA football program,” said Ryan Brown, STA’s outgoing athletic director. “He earned the respect of the players in the program quickly. His work as an assistant coach has put him in a position to lead the program forward.”

Lent graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1999 after which he attended Nichols College and played football and rugby.

“Being the head coach at St. Thomas is an amazing opportunity, and I am honored by it,” Lent said. “I’ve had the privilege of coaching and getting to know these young men over the past few years, and I am proud to continue doing so as head coach. We have some unprecedented challenges currently and ahead of us, and I know our Saints will rise to meet them!”

Lent, a Rye resident, is an active sponsor and supporter of youth sports around the Seacoast. He currently owns and operates The Card Guys, a sports card and memorabilia store in Portsmouth.
