ROCHESTER � The Spaulding High School girls basketball kept its perfect record intact Thursday night with a 39-33 win over Laconia.
Mary Paradis led the way with 14 points, as the Red Raiders improved to 8-0. They�re tied atop the Division II standings with Hollis-Brookline and Hanover (both 8-0).
Ashley Trogler added eight points for Spaulding, which is off until Tuesday when it travels to play Bow (4-3).
Portsmouth moves to 3-0
NEWMARKET � The Portsmouth High School co-ed Unified basketball team improved to 3-0 on the season Thursday with a 45-36 win over Epping/Newmarket.
Derek Baer led the Clippers with 19 points, while Kyle Diemer (six points), Stephen Eliason, Xzavier Miller, Ryan Prevost, Fabian Velasco, and Aaron Watt (four points a piece) were other leaders.
PHS girls place second
BENNINGTON � Portsmouth High School sophomore Brady Beland took first place in Thursday�s giant slalom race at Crotched Mountain, helping the Clipper girls place second as a team and just three points out of first.
Aiden Beland, Eve Hurley and Sammy Walker all finished in the top 10 for Portsmouth, which also got a third-place finish from the boys team.
The meet included teams from Souhegan, ConVal, Hollis-Brookline and Milford.
DeNiro holds off Leavitt
ROCHESTER � Leavitt Electric scored five unanswered goals in the third period, but it wasn’t enough as DeNiro Development held on for the 8-7 win in Rochester Men’s Hockey League action Monday.
Doug Larson had four goals for DeNiro (12-3-0), who led 8-2 early in the third period. Arnie Bennett added two, while Josh Anderson had a goal and two assists and Jeremy Plante recorded a goal and four helpers. Peter Clark added two assists. Mike Sullivan made 30 saves in goal.
Owen Allen had five goals for Leavitt (7-5-3), while Ed Conroy (assist) and Jim Casey added one apiece. Josh Terry and Cam Cundy each had two assists. Tyler Briand stopped 26 shots.
Buffalo Wild Wings beat Clemento’s Pizzeria, 5-3, to move to 6-7-2.
BWW got single goals from Matt Keene (assist), Stu Ferguson, Logan Hatch, Alex Turgeon and Logan Lachapelle. Drew Pepin had two assists. Brett Howell stopped 37 shots.
For Clemento’s (6-9-0), Sean Conroy (assist), Chris Bolton and Casey Goodell lit the lamp. Eric Shields made 40 saves.
In the nightcap, RSA Realty routed Zoeller Realty Group, 10-3, behind hat tricks from Troy Anctil and Jamie Ferullo (assist). Peter Keilty had a goal and three assists, while Jon Ellis (assist), Ryan Ellis (assist) and Kam Trepanier scored once each. Steve Stripto made 39 saves.
Jeff Berlin had two goals for Zoeller (3-10-2). Chris Heath also scored. Lennie Foss stopped 24 shots.
